The BBT team had heard the bite turned slow on New Melones; we were not sure how things were going to turn out at this event. Friday evening the clouds started to roll in and we became more optimistic on how Saturday was going to go. 64 boats turned out for this slug fest with most of them showing up early due to the poor launch conditions and low water levels. As the sun came up and it became easier to launch boats sparse clouds filled the air, it was a very calm no wind day, very sultry conditions. Many of the anglers were bed fishing and throwing swimbaits. The winners came in with a 30+ lbs bag and a great story to tell.
