A seventeen year old catches the first place big fish for the tournament on Saturday at Pine Flat Lake.  The smile that comes over a fathers face when he is proud of something his child has done is the smile that we all saw Saturday when Jaydee Watson's son, Ryan Watson brought in the 2.75 pound big bass for the tournament.  With over 135 bass caught and weighted in, Ryan caught the big fish of them all.  He now has the trophy and a $260.00 check to prove it.  Keep up the good work Ryan, because we are all going to be keeping an eye on you. The third tournament for the Central Valley's Circuit of the BBT was held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Pine Flat Lake.  We had a 29 boat field that included two small boats and 27 large boats.  It was a great day for the tournament, for the weather cooperated with no rain just clouds and a little wind. With sign-ups scheduled for 4:30 a.m. boats started pulling into the parking lot around 4:15 a.m.   The Pine Flat parking lot at Deer Creek is no way level.  Trying to find a level spot for registration was impossible.  Mom and Chelby did registration out of the back of the trailer because of weather and parking lot conditions.   This also made it easier to move down to the water front after blast off and to setup for the weigh-in. Blast off was scheduled for safe light around 6:30 a.m. and things were on schedule.  Around 6:15 a.m. Kevin headed down to the water front to start the day of fishing.  Off limits were called and rules were gone over.  The two small boats were sent on their way with a weigh-in time of 3:00 p.m.  Two flights were scheduled for the afternoon and lucky boat number 21 was the first big boat to blast off.  Boat numbers 21 thru 4 had the 3:00 p.m. weight-in while boats number 5 thru 20 came in at 3:15 p.m. With blast off completed it was time to head back up to the parking lot to move down to the waterfront.  After setting up the trailer down at the water front paperwork had to be completed.  The wind was blowing so all paperwork was done in the back of the trailer.  The 10 by 15 popup was setup, anchored to the back of the trailer and the weights were placed on the legs to keep the popup from blowing away.  The weigh-in tables were set up and the bump tanks were set out.  After all that it was time to rest and get a bite to eat before the anglers returned. Weight-in started at 3:00 p.m. and the anglers were instructed to release their fish into the net setup next to the 5 M.P.H. marker.  It was a rough day of fishing for the anglers and the big fish were just not there.  We had all but one boat weigh-in and only two dead fish.  Good job anglers keeping those fish alive.  After the scales were called closed by Kevin the decompression chamber was taken out to the net and any floaters were lowered down into the lake and swam off. Just a few statics for you anglers before we get into the payoff.  We had 100 percent of you anglers in the Big Fish competition, 86 percent in the $10 and $30 options and 89 percent in the $20 option.  With a 29 boat field we had 27 teams weigh-in with five fish bags.  That is 93 percent of the field.  We had a total of 136 fish weighted-in for a combined weight of 218.89 pounds. Great job anglers.   Now let's hand out the money. The team of Ed Armbrister and Jimmy Smith both of Fresno took first place with their five fish bag weighting-in at an even 10.00 pounds.  Ed and Jimmy were in all the options, took 3rd place Big Fish weighing-in at 2.41 pounds and received $1,295.00 for eight hours of fishing.  These anglers used drop shot, darter heads and split shot for lures and fished the flats of the Lake and there method used was plastic worms.  Ed and Jimmy would like to thank their wives for their sponsorship and support.   Great job guys. Second place went to the team of Adam Belmont of Clovis and Steve Magill of Sanger for their five fish bag weighting-in at 9.20 pounds.  These anglers were in all the options and took home a paycheck in the amount of $720.00.  Adam and Steve used weightless worms and darter heads while fishing the main lake.  Adam and Steve keep up the good work. Jason Sanchez of Reedley and Josh Sanchez of Dinuba were the lucky third place winners.  They brought in a five fish bag for a total weight of 9.17 pounds.  Third place in the tournament and third place Big Fish weighting-in at 2.27 pounds gave them $520.00 to take home.  Jason and Josh used plastic worms and sub surface baits, along with swim baits, Carolina Rig and Shaky heads while fishing Windy Gap and Trimmer areas of the Lake.  They would like to thank their sponsor Keeper Worms. First place Big Fish went to the seventeen year old, Ryan Watson, for his bass weighing-in at 2.75 pounds.  He earned $260.00 for that fish.  HIs challenge is to do it again next tournament.  Great job, Ryan. I would like to thank our staff boat, Brian Orange and Mario Ramirez, our weigh master David Orange, staff helpers Shaun Hilbert and Chris Orange along with Mom and Chelby Cheek for all their help and support in making this a successful event. Our next tournament will be at Don Pedro Lake on Saturday, May 3, 2014.  Hope to see you all there.             Sponsor Tackle Store Receipts Program – If you purchase tackle valued at $20 OR MORE from our Sponsor Tackle Stores, listed below or go Online to make purchases through the Optimum Baits and ima websites, you will receive a discount for being a member of the BBT.
