We're starting a new segment to our newsletter called

"Anglers Spotlight" where each month we will spotlight a team and ask them a little bit about themselves. This months spotlight is on the team of Bob Transano & Vern R. Westberg III.

You guys are getting ready to start your 2nd season in our Northern Region. Why the BBT and what do you think of the circuit now that you've completed a season?

"We fish BBT because it is a well-organized, well run tournament trail. It has great competition and a great group of staff and anglers to be around."

You guys fish the Northern Region. What do you think of this year's schedule?

"We like this year's Northern Region schedule. Maybe one of these years you can throw Shasta on there lol."

Favorite Lake?

"We love fishing Clear Lake just because you catch a lot of big fish in this lake."

What's the goal for your team in 2017?

"Our goal for 2017 is to make it to the TOC based on how well we did in the Northern Region."

The 2017 season has started off with a bang as our Central Region headed over to Lake Don Pedro for the first BBT tournament of the year. We had a total of 62 boats brave the weather conditions that mother nature presented to them. Over 50 teams brought limits to the scales and we saw some good bags along with our first Big Ol Pig & Lunker Club fish of the tournament and season. The team of Bryan Cox & Kevin Davidson (with a little help from his son - watch video) took the top honors with the wining weight of 24.18lbs. Let's listen to see how they did it.

Central Valley Lake Don Pedro Champions

A week later our Mother Lode Region kicked off there season opener with even more extreme weather conditions at Lake Don Pedro. For this opener, we had 76 boats compete for the title of champion and again we had a lot of 5 fish limits come to the scales with some pretty good weights. The grandfather and grandson team that topped the field is Dennis & Hayden Lee. If you recognize their last name that is because Dennis' son and Hayden's dad is no other than Robert Lee. By the time he finished his B.A.S.S. career in 2005, Robert Lee, AKA "The General," had won three Invitationals and a tour event with the senior circuit - all of them on the California Delta. It looks like his son is well on his way to follow in his dad's footsteps. Lets listen to hear how they did it.

Mother Lode Lake Don Pedro Champions

For our Coastal Region at Lake Nacimiento, we had to postpone the tournament because of the massive amount of rain that our area has gotten. The lake had a lot floating and submerged debris caused by the fires they had last year. So the probability of an angler getting hurt or causing damage to their boat was to high of a risk, so we made a decision to postpone that event to a later date.
